Whenever EVERGREY frontman Tom S. Englund and American pianist/composer Vikram Shankar (Redemption, Lux Terminus) come together and express their creativity collectively as SILENT SKIES, magic is created! With Dormant, the Swedish-American cinematic pop duo now releases their next magical piece of music. The third studio album by Englund and Shankar will be released on September 1, 2023. Driven by emotion and Scandinavian melancholy, Dormant fits into the sonic world of their previous albums Nectar (2022) and Satellites (2020) and offers breathtaking piano melodies, atmospheric keyboards, expansive soundscapes, and hauntingly beautiful and intense vocals on ten original compositions, accompanied by several bonus tracks. For the latter, SILENT SKIES have covered well-known classics, including those by Iron Maiden and Linkin Park, and have adapted them to their own unmistakable sound.

On Dormant, the atmospheric opening track 'Construct' invites listeners to join the two musicians on a heartfelt journey. 'New Life,' on the other hand, takes darker paths. Englund's sensitive vocals speak directly to the soul and harmonize perfectly with Shankar's refined instrumentation, carried by delicate piano and highlighted by an immersive production. The harmonious 'Churches' and the pop-inspired 'Just Above The Clouds' - the latter featuring a captivating solo by Leprous/Musk Ox cellist Raphael Weinroth-Browne - build up to a hypnotic daydream, immersing in the emotional tones of Dormant. Tenderly, 'Reset' and 'Tides' create seemingly endless melancholic soundscapes, while the moving 'The Real Me' showcases another facet of the album with electronic tones.

The harmonious collaboration between both artists forms the foundation of all SILENT SKIES creations. With great sensitivity and attention to detail, combined with profound and expressive lyrics, a unique character is created that bears the signature of Englund and Shankar with every note. The deeply moving 'Light Up The Dark' and the title track 'Dormant' are followed by 'The Last On Earth,' the final original composition on the album.
