"The enduring spirit" LP od Tomb Mold

After releasing three Albums within three years and subsequently taking a four-year hiatus, Tomb Mold has been reborn on their fourth Album, 'The Enduring Spirit,' a boldly audacious step into new territory. However, amidst all the frenetic daring and bold exploration, 'The Enduring Spirit' is unmistakably Tomb Mold.

While the expanding Tomb Mold architecture was already audible on last year's self-released tape, 'Aperture of Body,' particularly in the final track, 'Prestige of Rebirth,' it takes center stage on 'The Enduring Spirit.' The influence of Derrick Vella, who helped create and expand the doom genre with Dream Unending, undeniably flows into Tomb Mold, not to mention Payson Power and Max Klebanoff's explorations in their own project, Daydream Plus.

With the Album opener, 'The Perfect Memory (Phantasm of Aura),' the band's jagged, dimension-shifting riffing immediately comes to the forefront, as the track traverses various stages of progressive death metal and some of the band's most extreme pieces to date. 'Will Of Whispers' begins with a jazz-like fantasy sequence before transitioning into a dazzling white light, tasteful guitar leads, and then back into a dreamy winding pattern that spans entire universes in its nearly 7-minute runtime.

The latter half of the Album continues the journey into what is possible with the expansion of death metal norms and reaches its climax with the over 11-minute Album closer, 'The Enduring Spirit Of Calamity,' a otherworldly trip into a whirlpool where all things converge in space and time, creating the Tree of Life through a radiant celestial composition.
